Although high school and college applications may both seem far away, establishing a strong foundation of creativity and discipline sets students up for long term academic and personal growth and lays a groundwork for future success. Beyond our general selection of middle school courses and programs, we also offer targeted advising and preparation for the ISEE/SSAT and other entry exams for private schools.
At Sequoia Academy, our middle school classes are designed to go beyond the standard topics emphasized in middle school curriculums. We aim to help our students develop capabilities that they will utilize during their future endeavors - skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and logical analysis. Our goal is to challenge our students to excel while simultaneously inspiring their enthusiasm towards learning. We firmly believe in the power of learning to not only increase our students’ abilities, but to foster an empowered mindset.
Many of our middle school programs are also intended to serve as an introduction to topics that our students may not see during the school year. Our summer camps allow students to experience material that may lie outside the purview of their usual school classes, and practice applying critical thinking to new contexts and subjects.
For instance, our Introductory Java program is an opportunity for students to explore the basic concepts of computer science and then build their own projects, expanding on what they have learned and using their own creativity to create something new. Similarly, our Introductory Physics, Biology, and Chemistry lab programs give students hands-on experience learning important science concepts in a fun way.
