Mathematics

Sequoia Academy's math program is designed for students to build a robust understanding of mathematical concepts from an early age. The program provides students with a strong foundation for success in advanced math courses and other quantitative subjects, such as physics and computer science. Our courses cover all mathematical subjects, from Arithmetic and Pre-Algebra to Trigonometry and AP Calculus. We also offer preparatory courses for SAT and SAT II Math, and Competition Math courses.

Physics

Sequoia Academy's Physics courses are designed to cover and develop a solid conceptual understanding of the core topics of physics, starting with the fundamentals of physics and then moving on to more advanced topics, such as laws of motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity, magnetism, and more. These physics classes provide students with the skills they need to understand the topics taught in their high school classes. Our courses cover all levels of physics, from Introductory and Honors Physics to AP Physics. We also offer preparatory courses for SAT II Physics and Physics competitions.

Biology

Sequoia Academy's biology courses are designed for advanced students with an interest in biology. These classes cover a plethora of topics introduced in high school biology courses, such as the scientific method, cell structures and functions, genetics, DNA replication, RNA transcription, proteins, organ systems, ecology, and more. We provide students with the tools and the comprehensive understanding of all of these topics needed to succeed in high school biology. Our courses cover all levels of biology, from Introductory and Honors Biology to AP Biology.

Chemistry

Sequoia Academy offers a variety of chemistry courses for students at various levels. The courses cover a comprehensive view of chemistry topics typically presented in high school chemistry classes, such as the fundamentals of chemistry, atomic structures, nomenclature, electrochemistry, equilibrium, bonding theory, and nuclear chemistry. We provide students with the tools and the comprehensive understanding of all of these topics needed to succeed in high school chemistry. Our courses cover all levels of chemistry, from Introductory and Honors Chemistry to AP Chemistry.

Computer Science

Sequoia Academy offers computer science courses for students at all levels of computer science experience, from beginners with no programming experience to students in AP Computer Science. Both Java and Scheme programming languages are taught, with an emphasis placed upon Java in introductory courses.

At Sequoia, we believe that a strong foundation in critical thinking and clear communication is a crucial part of our students’ development as conscientious, thoughtful individuals. As part of our English programs, we strive to inspire a lifelong passion of reading, a key to experiencing diverse perspectives and thinking with open minds. 

History

Sequoia Academy's history program provides rigorous preparation in US History and World History, both for the SAT Subject Tests and AP level courses. We also offer tutoring for other History subjects, including Government, Economics, World History, and European History.
